Martial Application Class

In this class the student will work specifically with a partner on the application of the Self Defense Techniques and Katas in their belt as well as from previous belts. We will be working on:

  • Review of Techniques and Katas.
  • Hands on application of the Techniques and Katas with and without armor.
  • Mapping out targets.
  • Specific drills to improve and develop each aspect of the movements.
  • Blending and grafting.

This is a very important class in that it trains you to develop the 3 phases of Kempo. The "Ideal" phase where everything is going as planned. The "What if" phase which teaches you how to modify your technique when things go wrong. And the "Dynamic" phase where you simply blend and flow through the techniques as needed. It's not only necessary to know the material but more importantly to be able to use it effectively.
